As we close out the 2023 and welcome the 2024 year, it seems only relevant to reflect on the many changes we have experienced. While it still seems like most of us are still overcoming challenges and struggles still from the Pandemic (5 years ago!!)- That doesn’t even seem real!) while others of us are struggling with day-to-day chronic illness and feeling like there is little to no hope.
That is where ONE HEALTH comes into play!
This is an approach founded through the CDC that recognizes that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment. Why is this now a concern? As the population continues to grow, this causes an increase in the geographical contact between wildlife and domestic animals, as well as livestock, pets and ultimately humans. This contact las led to the spread of “zoonotic diseases”.
